Discovery Museum

Since we had Noelle's birthday party a day early at home, we were free last Sunday to go out for a special treat on her birthday. We decided to head over to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, CA.

We decided this place was a good find based on the view from the parking lot alone. Not too shabby!

Golden Gate Bridge

The museum has fun, interactive science exhibits for kids of all ages. Of interest to us was their crawler/walker exhibit rooms. These are, basically, two big, safe, padded rooms for babies and toddlers to explore new surfaces and sights. This was all very exciting to Noelle!

Here I come!

Where am I?

Giant lilly pads!

Crawling under the 'waterfall'

It seems like Noelle's favorite part was the 'river' outside, where she could play with (fake) salmon.

Mmmm, tasty.

Slippery little suckers!

Growth Chart

When I was a little girl one of the things I was always very excited about on my birthday was getting my height measured on a door frame in our kitchen. It made me so proud to see how much I had grown since the previous year! I'm sure my parents found it fun and rewarding as well. Cooking all those meals was paying off =)

With Noelle's birthday fast approaching, Alex and I look forward to marking her first year of progress upward. It occurred to me that we need a portable growth chart since we know we'll be moving at least once. After some online searching of the available options I wasn't quite satisfied. So, I decided to just make one. Here it is:

Ready to chart Noelle's progress!

Now, we just have to hang it up and convince Noelle to stand against it long enough for us to measure her!

Weekend with Daddy

Labor Day weekend is my annual girls weekend for the Disneyland half marathon. Last year, at 8 1/2 months preggo, I wasn't really up for it. I was super excited to make the trip this year and very grateful that Alex would stay around and watch Noelle. (Yes, I went to Disneyland without my child, ahem). No stories on the girls weekend; what happens in Disney stays in Disney =)

Noelle, I think, got the better end of the deal anyway. By all reports, she and Alex had an awesome weekend. She even received her own piece of Disney magic with this adorable number that Alex got her. Just imagine how cute these two were together in the store while buying this outfit!

Noelle's Fairy Costume

Alex was a wonderful chef as well, giving Noelle her first Mac 'n Cheese dinner! (I foresee this will become a childhood staple). Here, Noelle looks on, horrified, as Suka attempts to steal her cheesy goodness:

Don't you dare!

Noelle displayed her inner interior decorator with some improvements to the bathroom decor:

Much Better

Even with all the fun she had, Noelle was of course still happy to see me when I got home. She was even happier, though, when I sat down next to her to eat a nectarine. Faster than you can say "Hey, that's mine!", she had claimed it for herself and completely devoured it. She really pitched a fit when I took it away long enough to get the pit out. Next time, I'll know to do that first!

My new favorite food!
