Washer Repair

Today, the washer needed some minor repairs. The hose which empties excess water had retreated back into the washer... not where you want excess water to go.

Observing me digging for the elusive black tube with some long, metal objects, Noelle decided to help. She grabbed a screwdriver Alex had left out and started digging around in there too =)

I can poke at things, no problem!

With Noelle's help, the washing machine and the dirty laundry were saved.

Rainy Weekend

It has been raining in Berkeley for five days. The sun finally made an appearance around 5pm today. Needless to say, we have had to get a little creative with indoor baby entertainment.

First up this weekend was a trip to IKEA where Noelle acquired her very own dining table. She already loves having furniture that is her size. After only a day, all I have to do is tell her to 'go sit in her chair' when she wants food and she'll go and wait for it there. Awesome! Here she is enjoying it on the first day:

This table is just right!

Suka is also a fan of the baby table. It is much easier to get dropped food from under it.

Eat a little messier, please.

After lunch, Noelle made her very first batch of chocolate chip cookies. She also discovered that wonderful childhood treat that is the cookie dough covered beater. She was in little toddler heaven.

Why haven't you given me one of these before?

This, and the newly baked cookies, led to a sugar coma which she worked off while watching Sesame Street in her new toddler chair.
Am I spoiled? Yes. Too much? Not even close!

There was some Play-Doh fun thrown in there for good measure too.

I'll get that little man =)

The highlight of her rainy day, though, came right before bed while getting a ride in Dad's office chair. The clip below is about a minute long. She spent at least 5 minutes total spinning in that chair. I think she'll be an endorphin junkie like her Daddy.

Mommy ran a half!

A half marathon, that is. This past weekend Alex gave me a break by permitting me to go to Los Angeles and run a half marathon with my friend Lorraine; and what a wonderful break it was! It was so nice to reconnect with some friends, have some relaxation time (I had hot chocolate and read a magazine, in the middle of the afternoon!) and get a good run in.

Ready to Race (Though, I don't look ready!)

Enjoying the Run

A few things come to mind when I look at the above photo:
  1. I think I have running on the Berkeley, CA hills to thank for those thunder thighs.
  2. I need a haircut, ASAP!
  3. Pink top and purple bottoms? Am I color blind? What was I thinking!?!
Happy to be Done!

While in LA, my friends and I discussed some of the many similarities between taking care of a toddler and taking care of a dog. The biggest one being the emphasis on burning off as much energy as possible so the toddler/dog sleeps - a lot. In a funny coincidence, Alex showed me the following movie when I got home. No need to watch it all; you'll get the point very quickly =)

Baby Fetch

Finally, no post is complete without a cute Noelle photo. Here she is half-way through a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on Monday. Things only got messier from there!

Yummy Peanut Butter Goodness!

Getting Fancy

While hunting around the bathroom, Noelle found a new treasure:

Very fancy

She kept insisting that rollers be put in her hair for the majority of the afternoon =)

Happy New Year!

We celebrated New Year's Eve with a trip to Fairyland. Since it's only about 20 minutes away from us, in Oakland, this was a great way to give Noelle a ton of outdoor entertainment and fun.

Started in 1948, Fairyland is exactly what it sounds like: A Fairytale Land. Everything in the 'park' (really, toddler romping ground) is taken out of fairy tales that we're all familiar with. Everything from Alice's rabbit hole (actually, a slide) to Pinocchio's house is there. There are even live puppet shows. Most of the exhibits look like they haven't been updated since the 1950s. The kids, however, couldn't care less and since the price is right, the parents are happy too!

Pinocchio's House!

The magic tunnel of, eh, something.

Train ride =)

New Year's Day, unfortunately, was not so enjoyable. I, ahem, took a nap in the morning (thanks, Alex!). When I woke up Alex was frustrated at having had to go out and buy more carpet cleaner because a dog who shall not be named (cough, Ezra, cough) had been throwing up all over the place. What could be the trouble, we wondered? A little searching revealed a chewed open and completely empty bottle of Advil. Ibuprofen happens to be one of the most toxic substances for dogs. Worse then chocolate. Sigh, off the the emergency vet we went.

Ezra was subjected to all of the wonderful treatments one gets after attempting suicide by popping pills. I'm waiting for the doggy therapy bills to follow the emergency vet bill. Several hours later, we were home and he was more or less no worse for the wear. New Years 2012 will definitely not be remembered as his favorite day, however!

Ugh, not feeling so good.
