Bounce House!

To get away from the chilly wind today we headed to a wonderful, indoor bounce-house place in the local mall.

For $6.50 your kid (10 and under) can bounce around for an hour (Noelle made it 40 min before she wanted a snack). Only $1 more gets you another hour. Frankly, I'm surprised this place wasn't packed. $6.50 for peace from the energy of a cooped-up toddler sounds like a deal to me!

They have a toddler bounce house and three larger bounce houses. We started in the toddler area.

Really, this is it?

If you know Noelle, you'll already have guessed that she lasted about 2 minutes in the toddler area. Then, it was on to the fun stuff!

On top of the world!

Weeee (Clearly, iPhone needs a faster shutter speed)

Cora, for her part, has been extremely busy. She seems to have really entered the 'baby' stage and is definitely no longer an 'infant'. She's making cute babbling noises, rolling all over the place, and seems interested in everything. Of particular interest is a play station she got for Christmas. She spends 15-20 minutes at a time perfectly happy in there.

Serious business, this playing

Finally, I'll leave you with a little clip of the sisters together =)

First Tooth and New Couch

Cora cut her first tooth yesterday. We were pretty surprised she is teething already; not because it's earlier then normal for babies, but because Noelle didn't get her first tooth for almost two more months! Here is a cute clip of Cora alleviating her sore gums. I have found yet another use for the wonderful frozen grape =)

Ah, that's better

Yesterday our rental couches were picked up so the couches that we ordered could be delivered today. Noelle took advantage of the one night of big, open space in our living room!

Toddler play!

Finally, the couches arrived today! That was another fun-filled activity for Noelle; pillows everywhere! Now, we have lovely new furniture to relax on =)

That's a big couch for a little girl!

5 months old! & Spring?

I don't know where the time has gone; Cora is already 5 months old!

5 month milestone, check! (she's still sick, so, forgive the lack of smile)

The girls and I are feeling a little better, but still under the weather. It was nice having Alex around to help over the weekend. Tomorrow morning we have a Dr. appointment for the girls just to double check this is viral. If it isn't, it's time to hit the antibiotics!

Noelle's current favorite food; frozen grapes

It has been difficult getting Noelle to eat much, until I landed on the idea of frozen grapes. They're sweet, mild on her stomach, and make her sore throat feel better. She has had almost 5 lbs of grapes in the last few days. It's the jackpot of sick toddler food =)

The unseasonably warm weather we had early last week has created havoc for our plants. Several trees have made the mistake of thinking it is spring and put out their buds. Never mind that the overnight low is around 12 degrees tonight. The poor leaf buds will be frozen right off. This can't bode well for the coming growing season in upstate NY.

Week of Sick

Alex was out of town from last Sunday to late Friday night. The week for us girls started off okay.

Monday was freakishly warm, 55 degrees! I decided to try and take advantage by building a compost bin which I've been dying to do, but I need unfrozen ground to plant it in. So, the girls and I headed to Lowes to get the lumber (we were quite the site!) and nails. Big mistake on the nails. I knew I should use screws but I didn't want to be using a power tool with Noelle playing around me. Thus, instead of a compost bin, I ended up with a pile of wood that wouldn't stay together.

Compost Bin Fail!*

The next day the low was 15 degrees. Opportunity lost. Now, we'll have a pile of wood sitting in our garage until spring. This wasn't a complete waste though, since while I worked and Cora napped in the stroller, Noelle got to enjoy the pathetically small amount of snow that remained.

Making the best of the available snow

Tuesday, as karma would have it with Alex out of town, the girls came down sick and I caught it shortly thereafter**. While Noelle and I had fevers on and off Cora, thankfully, did not. I think we just had really bad colds. Still, the week was filled with very little sleep and a huge amount of laundry. All the sheets, blankets, and burp cloths had to be washed daily. That's how much fun we had =(

It wasn't all a loss, though. While we were stuck inside we still had some fun. There was a great deal of watching Sesame Street in bed (even in the middle of the night!)*** Noelle also put the poor, otherwise useless nails to a good cause; making a rain stick!

'Reading' Together

Noelle's first rain stick - a la paper towel roll, nails, dried navy beans and stickers =)

* Isn't Noelle's tiny wheel barrel cute =)
** Predictable outcome of the girls starting daycare the week before
*** I am now oh so grateful that Alex got me an Amazon Kindle for Christmas!

Lazy Sunday

We have finally settled into a routine and are starting to feel at home.

Two days a week (Wednesday and Friday) the girls go to daycare while I work from home. Both girls have settled in well at daycare and Noelle especially loves it. When she comes home she tells us all about her day. Baking cupcakes was a big hit last week!

The rest of the week we simply hang out and have fun. In addition to the Science Center (it's awesome, expect a post on that soon!) I hope to be spending more time at the public library with the girls. They have weekly story time and play time for toddlers =)

Today has been a perfect Sunday. We had a nice brunch with Daddy at a local diner. Then, he was on his way to D.C. for the week and us girls are just relaxing at home.

Taking a bath?

Story time =)

New Car

We are a two-car family again. With some help from my parents we secured a Dodge Durango during the Cristmas-New Year sale week:

Our new ride

It has more features then I'll probably ever use. Heck, I can't even operate the new iPhone I got today (email me if you'd like my new number =)). Most importantly, though, we now have enough room for the kids and the dogs to fit in one vehicle. Life just got a lot easier!
